Meet Caleb
I'm Caleb Foster. Ever since I was young, music has been a huge part of my life. At 14 years old, I attended Motown The Musical, and while everyone around me was watching the performers, I couldn't stop watching the lighting. I was fascinated by how every cue, color, and transition transformed the stage and elevated the music. That moment, combined with my love for music and an endless curiosity for how things work, sparked the career that has brought me to where I am today as a Lighting Designer, Lighting Programmer, and Lighting Director.
My Story
Creativity has always been part of who I am. As a kid, I was constantly building "inventions," asking endless questions, and figuring out how things worked, even if it meant driving my parents a little crazy. Looking back, I realize I wasn't just making things. I was developing a mindset rooted in curiosity, creativity, and problem solving, qualities that continue to define who I am today.

That curiosity led me to a moment that changed my life. At 14 years old, I attended Motown The Musical. While everyone around me was focused on the performers, I found myself captivated by the lighting, production, and everything happening behind the scenes. Every cue, color, and transition enhanced the music and transformed the emotion of the performance. As someone who had always loved music, seeing how lighting could become part of the storytelling sparked something in me. In that moment, I knew live production was where I belonged.

Not long after, I found myself behind a Hog 4 console at my local church, where I began learning the fundamentals of lighting. But simply knowing the basics was never enough. Determined to learn the industry standard, I spent an entire summer teaching myself grandMA2. There were no formal classes or mentors, just countless hours of experimentation, mistakes, late nights, and an obsession with understanding not just how the console worked, but why it worked the way it did.
That same mindset continues to shape every production I'm part of. I'm constantly learning, creating, and challenging myself to improve. Every artist has a unique vision, every venue presents a new challenge, and every show is an opportunity to create something unforgettable. I believe the best lighting doesn't demand attention. It supports the performance, enhances the music, and creates moments audiences remember long after the final cue.

Over the years, that passion has opened the door to programming productions for artists including Moneybagg Yo, Fred Hammond, The Isley Brothers, The O'Jays, and Bobby Brown, while touring with those productions as well as Maxwell and Rod Wave. Each opportunity has reinforced the values that started this journey at 14 years old: stay curious, never stop learning, and always find new ways to elevate the experience for both the artist and the audience.

Today, FosterLX is more than a portfolio. It's the culmination of years of self-teaching, relentless curiosity, creative problem solving, and a passion for live entertainment. Every design, every cue, and every production is another opportunity to tell a story through light.
